Oh, and a Big 'Ol Genuine Tennessee SNIFFFFFF!

We also ended up on the 3rd page of the Calgary Metro Newspaper:

SPICDHUM...

October 2006...It's over....and we DID it!!  Spice is the 16th best quartet in the WHOLE world!  We're ecstatic, but it's not over...it's only the beginning!!!  Thank you to everyone who lost their voice screaming for us at contest or at your computer from home.  We totally felt the vibes all the way to the stage!!!  Some fabulous "input" from Int'l contest this year:

Here are the comments (according to our sources) from those fabulous SAI Webcast Commentators:

"Wow.  They've only been singing together for 9 months and put
in a championship performance like THAT?  I quit."
"I'm not a judge this year, but if this quartet doesn't place
very, very high in the competition I'll be shocked."
"Lots and lots of 'ringing' during those songs"

Here are the comments from Marti Lovejoy's yahoo e-groups:

Song of Atlanta, Marietta, GA
Stage Attire: Black pants outfit, sheer overlay on pants, sheer jacket over gold and black shell.
Song #1: Two Tickets Medley - THIS is the song of the day... I misspoke earlier. This is another good job on a very difficult song, however.
Song #2: My Buddy - This is a really nice blend of voices with lots of life and richness.

From our dear friend, Cindy Bunker:

*****  S P I C E   *****

To the girls of Spice who are really so nice,
I send you this message to start.
Couldn't be prouder or yell even louder,
This message comes straight from my heart.

To Vegas you went, well wishes were sent,
You sang till your hearts felt complete.
Then when you were done, had had lots of fun,
The audience sprang to their feet.

You fabulous four whom we love and adore,
You knew that your job was well done.
Sweet sixteen is quite grand so I'll give you a hand,
In my heart the contest you won!

What a fabulous job all four of you did.  I couldn't be prouder of SPICE.
CONGRATULATIONS!

Cindy

September 2006...what a HUGE month we've had - with just a little more than TWO weeks until the International contest...sequinned buckets anyone?  Spice sings on the High Country Harmonizers show in Blue Ridge, Georgia along with FRED.  We were definitely lacking in slapstick compared to those guys - but then again, FRED has one up on the Three Stooges!  Those HCH men (and their wives) sure know to make a girl feel welcome.  Thank you for that!!

But the really BIG event -

On the 23rd of this month, our dearest friends put on the PARTY OF ALL PARTIES - SPICE-A-PALOOZA!!  We can't begin to thank the SPICE RACK for putting this together for us.  Talk about overwhelming.  Our friends and families came by the THOUSANDS...well, the HUNDRED, but who's counting?...to celebrate our pending International competition appearance.  We were completely feeling the love and are taking THAT on stage with us!  Thank you to the SPICE RACK:  Georgia "Spice-a-licious" Hine, Patti "O' Spice" Lampru, Anita "Momma Spice" Johnston, Brandi "Official Sumpin' Sumpin'" aka "The Reverend Cayenne Peppah" Diamond, Traci "Sistah Spice" Allison and Gail "O' Spice" Potts.  You girls ROCK!!!  Thank you to everyone who came out and donated to our very first International competition!  Thank you to our AVP (Atlanta Vocal Project) friends who switched parts and provided additional entertainment - you guys are fabulous!!  Thank you to our very dear Song of Atlanta Show Chorus sisters who also sang their hearts out for the crowd - it was a STELLAR dead-cold-start performance!  (For those who aren't singers - that means they sang with NO warm up whatsoever.)  You girls are going to be fabulous in VEGAS!  Can't wait to share that stage with you.  We'll warm it up for you!

August 2006...Spice is working...working...working and ringing some curds*...

* Our lead, Alexis, is a mid-western gal and her accent comes out sometimes - like during rehearsal.  You betcha!

July 2006...Spice coaches with the infamous DALE SYVERSON (THAT was fun!!) and appears in the July issue of Sweet Adelines International's quarterly publication of The Pitch Pipe as a Regional Winner!  We continue to work on our repertoire!

June 2006...Spice performs on Region 23's Summer Singsation evening show.  A fabulous follow-up to our regional competition.  Three quarters of the quartet coached with the FABulous Sandy Robinson Marron!

April and May 2006...Spice is working diligently on NEW music!  HALLELUJAH!

March 2006...Spice wins!  Spice wins!  Spice wins!  What a wonderful first regional contest together!  We had such great time sharing what we love to do and getting the ultimate reward for it!  First place!  Spice Daddy says we only have two weeks off until it's back to the grindstone (SLAVEDRIVER!!) preparing for Las Vegas!  And we have a mascot!  Spice welcomes 10-week old, Vegas, to the mix.  He's a 35 pound Great Dane puppy!!  Sometime in October, we'll be offering pony rides...at the Delaney Compound!

February 2006...Spice is on its way, preparing like mad for March's Region 23 contest!  What?!?  No clothes?!?  No problem!  Who needs clothes on stage?  DOH!!

January 2006...Spice Daddy Delaney is "hired".  Spice is honored to be his own personal "project"!!  Fortunately, we settled on an uptune fairly quickly...  Added to our Performance Advisory Committee is Brandi Calhoun Diamond, OSSS....Official Spice Sumpin' Sumpin'

December 2005...Spice begins its journey.  What fun!  What a sound!  What the...?!?  A new husband and 2 kids?  The husband is a 2nd Generation Barbershopper?!?  SSSSWWWEEEEEET!
